A monument to Heydar Aliyev, twice Hero of Socialist Labor and former leader of Azerbaijan, will be installed in the Russian capital. A ceremony was held to lay the foundation for the monument on March 4.
This event will serve not only as a symbol of respect for his contribution to history but also as a reminder of the strong ties between Azerbaijan and Russia.
Heydar Aliyev, a legendary figure, played a crucial role in preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War. During the war, he actively participated in organizing the defense of the Caucasus, and in the postwar years, he worked to ensure that the heroism of the Soviet people was recognized and remembered. Thanks to his efforts, the names of thousands of heroes were immortalized in Azerbaijan, making the memory of the war an integral part of the nation’s identity.
The installation of this monument in Moscow is not only a tribute to the past but also an important step in strengthening the future. Heydar Aliyev consistently advocated for the development of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia. Today, his legacy continues to inspire members of the “Victory 9/45” Movement to foster friendship, cooperation, and mutual understanding between our nations.
“I believe that this monument, whose foundation is being laid today, is not just a monument to Heydar Aliyev, but in many ways, a monument to Azerbaijani-Russian friendship,”
commented Rahman Mustafayev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan.
